Your Favorite Filling Foods
What foods keep your hunger at bay?
The “Satiety Index of filling foods” page is one of the more popular pages on my site. One of the main things my visitors are looking for is foods to fill that hole in the stomach without creating feelings of guilt and adding more weight on.
The scientists behind the Satiety Index list of foods at the University of Sydney, Australia, of course didn’t test all the foods there are. They tested some.
The sad thing is that on the top of the list of foods they tested are plain boiled potatoes and porridge/oatmeal.
How exciting is that?
OK, further down the list you’ll find apples, beef, baked beans, grapes and whole meal bread which makes it better.
I think we should extend the list. It doesn’t matter that it will not be scientific; experience also counts.
What foods, in your opinion, are filling ?
I’m sure you have some foods you tend to stick to, to avoid hunger pangs and still keep it light. Or maybe you have "light" tricks to make plain boiled potatoes and oatmeal exciting and delicious. We’d love to hear about it!
