Cheap Cooking for Weight Loss

Cheap cooking can actually help you lose weight. Since bad finances can trigger excessive eating, keeping your food budget low is a good weight loss trick.

When you want to cut down on food expenses, the usual way is to choose cheap food like pasta, rice and potatoes, instead of more expensive food like meat and fish.

This kind of food may be good for your wallet, but what you're doing is replacing protein with carbohydrates.

You still need protein and eating too much carbohydrate can affect your blood sugar levels negatively. And as you already know, trying to fight sugar cravings is not a good way to succeed at losing weight.

It’s better to incorporate beans and lentils instead. They are low in fat, a good source of vitamin B and iron and they can also lower your cholesterol levels. Combined with nuts, seeds or grains they form a complete vegetable protein.

As beans are high in fiber, actually one of the richest sources, they keep your hunger at bay for a long time.

Beans, Peas and Lentils

Beans come in a large variety; Adzuki, Black Beans, Black-Eyed Peas, Kidney, Borlotti, Cannellini, Lima, Mung, Pinto, Chick Peas and the best ones … Soya Beans.

Lentils you can only find dry. Brown lentils still have their seed coat and have not been split. Red, yellow, and orange lentils have had their hulls removed and cook faster and are a good choice for soups.

Try beans and lentils recipes - good both for your health, your wallet and your waistline!

With you on the weigh,
