As a compliment to the information I give on my site I also recommend my favorite books for deeper understanding and knowledge, and a laugh here and there.

The approach to weight loss can sometimes be a bit harsh and cold, and even completely without logic, so it's reliving to find a book that gives you the opportunity to have a good laugh while you're aiming for a healthier life.

This book is full of common sense weight loss information by someone who has seen all the crazy sides of the weight loss industry as a stress consultant, former aerobics instructor, and owner of a wellness center. If you have decided to take a lighter approach to weight loss this read is a must.

by Walter C. Willett, M.D. and Patrick J. Skerrett

The Healthy Eating Pyramid is developed by the Harvard School of Public Health and gives suggestions on how much you should eat on a daily basis from each food category.

Even though the recommendations in this book may seem pretty basic, it's good to keep in mind that the authors are not representatives of the food industry, but independent scientists. They aim to present the latest scientific research in dietary health, not to promote special products.
