4 Easy Tips For a Slimmer and Healthier Summer 2010

Spring is usually the time of year when we wish we had taken our weight loss attempt a bit more seriously. Advertisers for various “wonder” products that promise fast weight loss know this very well. Wanting to change things too fast is one of the most common causes of ruined weight loss attempts. (Good for the sellers of these products, they can sell more of their products.) But there is a way to lose some of the weight fairly fast and then keep it off.

1. Make your quick program successful. Especially a quick program needs some extra thought because it usually differs a lot from your normal way of life. Take a look at these tips first when you're impatient and you'll have all the possibilities of getting into that tight pair of pants.

2. Walking. Many people have managed to lose a lot of weight simply by adding more walking to their everyday life. Summer is the best time of the year for wallking and if you start a habit of walking more your chances of keeping the weight off are higher. All you need is a pair of comfortable shoes and you’re off! Combining your walking with a 10 minute work out (see my DVD tip below) is about all it takes to keep your extra weight off.

3. Slimming and cheap food. You can eat slimming food even if you’re on a tight budget. You get excellent cheap protein for little money when you choose beans and lentils. Avoid eating starchy, weight gaining foods like potatoes and pasta. Keep the food expenses low by also choosing locally produced fruits and vegetables and stay away from what’s out-of-season. This is the time to indulge in fruit and veggies!

4. Don’t cut out all the sweets. If you try to cut out all sweets while losing weight you put yourself up for the risk of totally indulge when you can’t resist the temptation anymore. Allowing yourself healthy sweets now and then is actually much better, and there is no need to feel guilty about it.

Study Finds Self-Control to Be Contagious

You already know that getting support is often essential if you are going to lose that extra weight or not.

Unfortunately, having a good support team around is not always enough as losing weight also requires a fair amount of self-control. And where do you obtain that when it feels you can’t resist that cookie or just won’t bother with the exercise you know you need?

The answer lies in the fact that we mimic the behavior of the people around us. So when you want to lose weight, stop smoking or anything else that require self-control; surround yourself with the right people. So when your friends won’t fall for sweet temptations, neither will you. According to a new study self-control if simply contagious.
